Kylian Mbappé Awakens PSG’s Champions League Competitors

Kylian Mbappé might be looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain, but he’s not holding back while he’s still on the team. In PSG‘s recent game against Real Sociedad, he scored two impressive goals, helping his team secure a 2-1 victory and a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in three years.

“We knew we had to stay alert from the start,” Mbappé said after the match. “If they scored first, it would have given them momentum. So, we had to start strong and dampen their spirits early, and that’s exactly what we did. It feels great to be back in the quarterfinals.”

Mbappé’s goals were crucial in PSG’s 4-1 aggregate victory over Real Sociedad. He had also scored in the first leg of the match three weeks ago, helping PSG secure a 2-0 win in Paris. Despite reports of his impending departure from PSG to Real Madrid, Mbappé remains focused on helping his team succeed.

“We wanted to win, not just qualify,” Mbappé emphasized. “We had a clear game plan, and we executed it well. We didn’t feel too much pressure, even though there was a bit towards the end.”

Mbappé’s performance against Real Sociedad comes after a couple of games where he hadn’t scored and was subbed off early. However, he played the entire match against Real Sociedad and dismissed any rumors of discord between him and the PSG coach.

“There’s no issue with the coach, despite what people might think,” Mbappé clarified. “I might have problems, but the coach isn’t one of them.”

Coach Luis Enrique echoed Mbappé’s sentiments, stating, “I don’t have any problems with any player.” He praised Mbappé’s abilities, calling him the best player in the world in the attacking third and highlighting his versatility on the field.

Mbappé’s two goals against Real Sociedad also marked a milestone in his career, making him the second-youngest player to reach 45 Champions League goals in both group stage and knockout matches, at just 25 years and 76 days old. Only Lionel Messi achieved this feat at a younger age, and Mbappé now boasts 46 Champions League goals.

As PSG looks ahead to the quarterfinals, Mbappé’s stellar performance serves as a reminder of his undeniable talent and his commitment to his team’s success, regardless of his future plans.
