Copenhagen Holds Bayern To A 0-0 Draw At Munich

Danish side Copenhagen held Bundesliga giants and group leaders Bayern Munich to a a 0-0 draw against Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Bayern’s competition record 17-game winning streak in the group stage was ended by a Copenhagen team who were focused on keeping their Champions League hopes alive.

“I actually thought that we would play a little more freely because we were already first, because we really had nothing to lose,” Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel said.

Manuel Neuer made a late double save three minutes to stoppage time to preserve Bayern Munich’s record unbeaten run in the Champions League group stage.

Neuer denied Copenhagen forward Mohamed Elyounoussi in the 87th minute, then followed with another save to stop Elyounoussi again from the rebound.

Officiating Referee Stephanie Frappart pointed to the spot in the second minute of added time when the ball hit the arm of Peter Ankersen, but she was adviced to check the pitchside monitor.

She changed her decision and overturned the penalty.

English side Arsenal also secured a spot in the Champions League knockouts after thrashing Lens 6-0.

“I didn’t even dream like this,” Arteta told reporters. “We had the chance to qualify today and be top of the group and I think we’ve done it in a really convincing way.

“The team from the beginning showed a lot of aggression and determination to go for the game. Everything happened in the right way in the first 30 minutes.”
