Portugal Demolishes Luxemburg In UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers Despite Ronaldo's Absence

Portugal humiliated their opponents, Luxembourg in the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers, despite the absence of their star player, Christiano Ronaldo.

This has been the highest demolition so far since Spain’s 7-1 destruction of Georgia.

Manchester United midfielder Fernandes created the first goal with a cross from the right wing with the outside of his boot to Goncalo Inacio who scored a brace in the first half.

Goncalo Ramos also scored a brace with another assist from Bruno Fernandes, and by half-time, Portugal were four goals up.

Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva set up their second goal and Liverpool forward Jota, who also hit the crossbar in the first half, played the pass for Horta to score.

This means that the leaders of the Euro 2024 Group J, Portugal, have now won all of their six matches, since Roberto Martinez became head coach in January when he replaced Fernando Santos who resigned after the World Cup.

The leaders will qualify for next summer’s Euro 2024 in Germany with three games to spare if they win at home against second-placed Slovakia on 13 October and third-placed Luxembourg fail to win away at Iceland.
