Barcelona Claims First La Liga Win Against Cadiz In New Season Game

Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions, defeated Cadiz 2-0 in their inaugural home match at the Olympic Stadium.

It appeared that the Spanish powerhouses would have to settle for a draw while the Nou Camp is being renovated.

Late in the game, though, Pedri scored after receiving a brilliant pass from former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan.

The triumph was subsequently sealed by Ferran Torres’ overtime drive.

In their season opener last week against Getafe, Barca drew 0-0 without scoring. With their victory on Sunday, they now have four points after two games, trailing early leaders Real Madrid by two points.

Lamine Yamal, who started the game for Barcelona at the age of barely 16 years, 38 days, was another historic event for the hosts.
