Manchester United Losses Again As Galatasaray Win 3-2 At Old Trafford

Galatasaray defeated Manchester United 3-2 at home on Tuesday, and Casemiro’s red card gave away a penalty that Mauro Icardi missed before scoring the game-winning goal, dropping the hosts to the bottom of Group A of the Champions League.

Rasmus Hojlund of Denmark gave United an early lead in the 17th minute as they sprinted out of the gates in rainy Manchester. The goal was a response to their fourth Premier League loss of the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

However, their advantage was short-lived as Wilfried Zaha, who was facing his former team, scored the equalizer after shaky home defense.

After the break, Hojlund masterfully took advantage of a mistake by Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez to put United back in the lead in the 67th minute. However, Kerem Akturkoglu leveled the score four minutes later, shocking Old Trafford into quiet.

Brazilian player Casemiro was given a penalty when United goalkeeper Andre Onana erred, and as a result, he was dismissed after collecting a second caution.

Icardi gave United the benefit of the doubt by missing his penalty attempt, but the Argentine bounced back to score a beautiful winner nine minutes from time to move Galatasaray up to second in the group with four points and give United a worthless result.

After a 2-1 victory at FC Copenhagen, who are in third place with one point, Bayern Munich is in first place with six points from two games.

“Our opponents are maybe not very successful on the outside but they are a good team,” Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk said.

“We have beaten a huge opponent. It is a massive week for Turkish football and of course for us.”

United coach Erik ten Hag added: “The mental errors we make, you cannot allow them at this level. You get punished. This is difficult to control.

“We are all in this together. We were twice up and in control of the game. We expect more together.”
