A Quiet Place: Day One, the prequel to the hit horror franchise, has released its first trailer, showing the terrifying first day of the alien invasion in New York City.
The film, directed by Michael Sarnoski and produced by John Krasinski, stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou as new characters who try to survive the chaos and silence.
This will be the third installment in the franchise, which was created by Krasinski, who directed, co-wrote, and starred in the first two films, along with his wife, Emily Blunt. Unlike the soon to be released prequel, A Quiet Place follows the Abbott family, who live in a post-apocalyptic world where they have to remain silent to avoid being killed by the alien creatures.
The first film was released in 2018 and was a commercial success, earning over $340 million worldwide and receiving praise for its originality, direction, and performances. The second film, A Quiet Place Part II, was released in 2020 and was also a hit, earning over $290 million worldwide.
A Quiet Place: Day One is set to be released in theaters on June 28, 2024. The film is distributed by Paramount Pictures, which also owns the streaming service Paramount+, where the film will be available 45 days after its theatrical release. The film is rated PG-13 for terror, violence, and bloody images.
