The popular country singer and songwriter, Chris Young, was arrested at the DawgHouse Saloon in Midtown Nashville on Monday night.
The 38-year-old reportedly followed and confronted Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents who were checking the Tin Roof bar, where Young was sitting earlier. He then struck one of the officers on the shoulder, leading to a physical altercation and his arrest.
According to WSMV, the arrest affidavit obtained stated that the incident began around 8:30 p.m when the agents arrived at the Tin Roof to conduct a compliance check on behalf of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The officers verified Chris Young’s ID and then worked with the bar staff to check the establishment’s ABC cards, while the singer continued to question and film them.
The agents then left the Tin Roof and went to inspect the DawgHouse, with Chris following them. As the agents were leaving afterward, he put his hands out to stop them and hit one of them on the shoulder.
The officer pushed him away while another patron intervened. Chris Young then started yelling and screaming, and refused to follow the directions of another officer who approached him. Two officers then physically detained and handcuffed him, while some of the other patrons at the bar became hostile and followed them as they left.
The affidavit also stated that his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he smelled of alcohol.
Before getting released from custody, Chris was first charged $250 for disorderly conduct, $1,000 for resisting arrest, and $1,250 for assault. He has been scheduled to appear in court on the 16th of February.
