Blake Lively Apologizes for Joking About Kate Middleton Photoshop Image After Cancer Reveal

Popular actress Blake Lively has publicly apologized for a social media joke she made earlier this month about the perceived photo editing fails involving Kate Middleton, an attempt at humor that has taken on a somber tone in light of the Princess of Wales’ recent cancer diagnosis.

“I’m mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always,” Lively said in her Instagram story on Friday, expressing regret over her since-deleted March 15th post.

The original post from The Age of Adaline actress poked fun at the frenzy over an official photo of Middleton with her three children that appeared to have some visual anomalies, leading news outlets to pull the image amid speculation over editing.

At the time, Blake Lively cheekily promoted her beverage line with an obviously edited poolside photo showing an enlarged thumb and a floating lemon.

“I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today,” Lively wrote Friday after Middleton revealed she had been undergoing treatment for cancer.

In a video message earlier that day, the Princess of Wales confirmed she is in the “early stages” of chemotherapy after her diagnosis was made following an abdominal surgery procedure in January.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” Middleton stated.

Blake Lively’s original joke seemed harmless enough when conspiracies swirled about Middleton’s whereabouts during an extended public absence. However, the announcement of the princess’ cancer battle has clearly prompted remorse from Lively over her attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor.
