Video: Royal Family Faces Another Health Crisis as Princess of Wales Battles Cancer

In a somber video message released on X, Catherine, Princess of Wales revealed on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. The 42-year-old royal, formerly known as Kate Middleton, described the diagnosis as “a huge shock” coming after “an incredibly tough couple of months.”

The cancer was detected during medical tests following the Princess’s major abdominal surgery in January, though she did not disclose the specific type of cancer.

Kate expressed gratitude for the public’s support during this difficult period, but requested “time, space, and privacy” for her family as she focuses on completing her treatment. See the video below.

This health battle compounds the worrying situation facing the royal household, as it was disclosed just last month that King Charles III, aged 75, is also contending with a cancer diagnosis of his own. No further details were provided regarding the monarch’s condition.

The Princess of Wales had largely disappeared from public engagements since late December, spurring speculation about her well-being until Kensington Palace confirmed in January that she was recovering from a scheduled surgery. At the time, it was stated that she was not expected to resume royal duties until after the Easter period on March 31st.

Despite the Palace’s assurances, Kate’s extended absence fueled rampant online rumors and conspiracy theories. A seemingly innocuous Mother’s Day photo released on the 10th, depicting Kate with her three children and credited to Prince William, was later revealed to have been digitally doctored, further fanning the flames of speculation.

As two of its most prominent members confront serious health crises simultaneously, the royal family will undoubtedly appreciate the privacy requested while hoping for full recoveries for both the Princess of Wales and the King. The United Kingdom holds its collective breath during this immensely challenging period for the nation’s first family.
