Kelly Rowland’s Netflix Thriller and Today Show Drama

Kelly Rowland is making headlines for her new Netflix film, Mea Culpa, which just had its New York premiere in Paris Theatre on Thursday. Her former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, were among the stars that came to support her.

Rowland plays the role of a criminal defense attorney in this thriller directed by Tyler Perry, who falls for her client, an artist accused of murdering his girlfriend. The film is set for release on February 23rd, exclusively on Netflix.

However, not everything went smoothly for the actress/singer before the event. On that same day, she was supposed to guest co-host the fourth hour of the Today show with Hoda Kotb, but she walked off the set before the show even started.

Page Six reported that Kelly Rowland and her team felt dissatisfied with their downstairs dressing room and had asked for an upstairs green room. However, Jennifer Lopez, who was there to promote her latest album and movie, had already occupied it.

The production team of the Today show tried to find an alternative that could please her but it led nowhere.

The Motivation singer’s sudden departure left Kotb scrambling to find a replacement, which turned out to be Rita Ora, who agreed to fill in at the last minute.

As of the time of writing, Kelly Rowland still hasn’t commented on the incident, and neither has Lopez.
