Kanye West’s Vultures Livestream Cut Off After Antisemitic Lyric

Kanye West’s Vultures album livestream was abruptly shut down after the artist rapped about being an antisemite.

The livestream was hosted by the Veeps platform and took place on Thursday, February 8th, at the United Center in Chicago. West, also known as “Ye”, performed tracks from his new album Vultures, a collaborative project with Ty Dolla $ign, for a packed crowd. He wore all black with a Jason Voorhees mask, and rapped lyrics that shocked and offended many listeners.

In one of the tracks he unveiled that night, he rapped, “And I’m still crazy, bipolar, antisemite / And I’m still the king”. Almost immediately after he uttered the word “king”, the stream went black and silent.

Complex reports that it may have been cut off due to the ongoing Chicago live event curfew and not because of Kanye’s comments, but who knows?

Nevertheless, West’s Vultures album has been plagued by controversies, delays, and changes, as the rapper has faced criticism for his alignment with far-right ideologues, his choice of collaborators, and his erratic behavior. The album, which was initially set to be released on December 31st, 2023, has been postponed several times and is now expected to arrive on February 9th, 2024, in three volumes.

The second volume is expected to arrive on March 8th, and the third part should follow on April 5th. However, these dates, naturally, are again subject to change, considering West’s history of postponements.

The album also features a variety of other artists, such as Playboi Carti, Chris Brown, Freddie Gibbs, James Blake, Kid Cudi, Lil Durk, and Future.
