Sofia Vergara just recently revealed the real reason behind her divorce from Joe Manganiello and what she is looking for in a partner. The actress also shared her perspective on aging, motherhood, and career.
Sofia Vergara is one of the most successful and beloved actresses in Hollywood. She is best known for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit sitcom Modern Family, which earned her four Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. She is also a successful entrepreneur, with her own clothing line, perfume, and furniture collection.
However, behind the scenes, the 51-year-old star has been going through a difficult time in her personal life.
Last July, she and her husband of seven years, Joe Manganiello, announced their divorce in a joint statement. The couple, who met in 2014 and got married in 2015, were considered one of the most beautiful and happy couples in Hollywood. They often gushed about each other in interviews and on social media, and supported each other’s careers and passions.
So, what went wrong? During an interview with Spanish newspaper El País, Sofia Vergara finally revealed the real reason behind their split: they disagreed on plans to expand their family.
Sofia, who already has a 32-year-old son, Manolo, from her previous marriage to Joe Gonzalez, said that she did not want to have more children at her age, while Joe, who is 47 and has no children, wanted to become a father.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she confessed. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
Sofia added that she is ready to be a grandmother, not a mother, and that she is looking for a partner who already has children of his own.
“I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do.”
Sofia also talked about her perspective on aging, saying that she is not afraid of getting older, but rather embraces it. The actress went further to mention that she takes care of herself by eating well, exercising, and using skincare products, but that she does not obsess over her appearance.
“I don’t have a routine, I don’t have a diet, I don’t have a trainer. I do what I can, when I can. I don’t have time to be in the gym for hours. I have a busy life, I have a family, I have a career, I have a lot of things to do,”
Sofia Vergara is currently promoting her latest project, Griselda, a miniseries in which she plays the notorious Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco.
