Robert Jones and Gilbert led the charge during this run, with Jones contributing eight points. Despite Texas Tech’s efforts to cut into the lead, Iowa State maintained a comfortable advantage, leading 38-24 at halftime.
In the second half, Iowa State continued to dominate, extending their lead to 19 points early on. Although Texas Tech managed a brief comeback, narrowing the gap to 13 points, Iowa State responded with another scoring surge led by Gilbert’s third 3-pointer of the game.
Robert Jones played a significant role in Iowa State’s first-half lead, scoring eight points on perfect shooting and grabbing five rebounds. His contributions helped Iowa State establish a commanding lead at halftime.
