Oppenheimer was the big winner at the 2024 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA Film Awards), taking home seven trophies, including Best Film, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, and Best Director for Christopher Nolan.
The film, which tells the story of the American physicist who led the development of the atomic bomb, also won in the categories of original score, best-supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr, and best picture.
The other major winners of the night were Poor Things, the dark comedy based on the novel by Alasdair Gray, which won five awards, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, while The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer won three.
The BAFTA Film Awards was held on Sunday, February 18th, at the Royal Festival Hall in London, and was hosted by David Tennant. It is considered one of the key indicators of how the Oscars will play out on March 10th.
Oppenheimer leads the Oscar nominations with 13 nods, followed by Poor Things with 11, and Killers of the Flower Moon with 10.
