Tottenham Stuns Arsenal Women To Claim Crucial 3 Points In Derby

Martha Thomas’ second-half goal at Tottenham stadium earned her team a first ever win over Arsenal women in WSL.

The Gunners failed to climb the top position, ahead of defending champions Chelsea. Spurs remain sixth after their first win in six league games.

Arsenal dominated the match from the beginning and Caitlin Foord struck the post.

After the break, the Gunners continued to create chances as Alessia Russo sent a header off-target and Frida Maanum sent another ball over the bar.

In the 58th minute, Thomas put the underdogs in front, when she slid in a cross from Celin Bizet into the back of the net.

The loss leaves Arsenal in second, behind champions Chelsea on goal difference and a chance to fight another day.

Spurs had not beaten their rivals in seven previous league meetings, losing six, while never keeping a clean sheet.

Tottenham women had conceded 11 goals in their last two matches against Manchester City and United.
