Dolly Parton recently surprised a fan facing terminal illness, who had expressed a desire to meet the iconic singer, with a personal phone call.

According to The Washington Post, LeGrand Gold discovered that his stage four colon cancer had progressed to a terminal stage, leading him to worry about completing his bucket list. About a year ago, Gold wrote down 11 tasks he hoped to accomplish, believing that meeting Parton would be impossible.

However, after Gold’s wife, Alice, shared his wish online, Parton called him this week at his Utah home. The 48-year-old Gold was reportedly astonished to hear the voice of his favorite musician. During their approximately four-minute conversation, Parton modified the lyrics of “I Will Always Love You” to express, “I will always love LG,” using his nickname.

Gold, who is expected to live for two to 12 more months, expressed that Parton’s call meant a great deal to him.
