I just got back from the NAMM show, where I saw lots of cool new music gear. There were guitars, pedals, amps, and more. Even though I already have a bunch of guitars and amps, I still felt tempted to buy more.
I used to think wanting new gear was a bad thing, especially when I was a struggling musician and couldn’t afford it. But then I realized it’s okay to be curious about new gear, as long as you don’t buy everything you see.
For example, you might see a new pedal that you think sounds great. But after thinking about it, you realize you can get a similar sound with pedals you already have. Or maybe you try out a new guitar and realize you don’t really need it, but it inspires you to play differently on the guitars you already own.
There’s nothing wrong with buying new gear if you can afford it. Guitars, pedals, amps, and other gear are always getting better, so it’s fun to try out new things and see what inspires you.
So don’t be afraid to check out new gear and see where it takes you. You might discover something amazing!
