Chelsea Women Thrash Aston Villa In Super League

Chelsea Women thrashed Aston Villa in wet and windy conditions in the West Midlands to go to the top of the Women’s Super League table.

The Blues had won all four previous meetings with Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League and thief opponents were still searching for their first point of the season.

Chelsea had six different players on the scoresheet and they were 2-0 up before halftime.

Millie Bright fired the Blues in front with a powerful bullet from the corner and that was the beginning of Villa’s woes.

Fran Kirby tapped the ball in after a goal-mouth scramble to make it two for the visitors.

After the break, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd used her speed to her advantage and put the scoreline away from the Villa’s reach.

Two goals in quick succession from substitutes Ashley Lawrence and Aggie Beever-Jones were enough to show that Chelsea did not come to play.

Chelsea Women continue their unbeaten start to the season and go three points clear at the top of the Women’s Super League table, but have played one game more than their close challengers.
