Iran Security Arrests 2 More Family Members Of Protesters

Iran Security has arrested two more family members of Iranian protesters to scare them and shut them up, as it is allegedly being said.

The protesters in question were killed in 2019 and 2022, bringing to at least 21 the number of such arrests over the past month.

Omid, the brother of Foad Qadimi, was arrested on September 8 in the city of Diwandareh, Kurdistan province.

Foad Qadimi was killed by Iran security forces in 2022 after the cruel death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody sparked an anti-establishment outrage across the country and the world at large.

On September 5, Farzad, a relative of Reza Moazzemi Godrazi, a victim of the state crackdown on the November 2019 demonstrations over an abrupt rise in gasoline prices, was arrested in the city of Borujerd.

Nobody knows the reason for these arrests or the charges against Omid Qadimi and Farzad Moazzemi Godrazi.

The Iranian authorities have increased their crackdown against activists and families of those killed in the demonstrations, as they fear another nationwide protest.

Amnesty International has said that the government’s ongoing “campaign of intimidation” against the families of protest victims aimed at enforcing a climate of silence and impunity.
