Lautaro Martinez Fires Winner For Inter Milan Against Atalanta

Lautaro Martinez has been one to watch this season and once again, he came through for Inter Milan in their rivalry against Atalanta.

Both teams played the match under harsh rainy conditions, but Martinez came out with the winner.

Inter are now five points clear of Juventus and six ahead of AC Milan, who slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Udinese.

Inter’s worries came early in the first half when French central defender Benjamin Pavard limped off in the first half.

But Hakan Calhanoglu gave them something to hope for when he converted a penalty in the 40th minute.

Lautaro Martinez who has been on fire for Inter this season fired a curling shot around two defenders into the top corner to keep Atalanta at bay.

Former West Ham player Gianluca Scammaca pulled one back for the hosts in a tightly contested match and it was a battle until Rafaele Toloi was given a straight red card late on.

Napoli got back into the top four, after defeating their southern neighbors Salernitana away from home.

Inter would now focus on Wednesday’s Champions League game at Salzburg, where a victory would send them through to the last 16.
