Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has taken legal action to change her name. She filed a petition in a Los Angeles court to drop “Pitt” from her surname, seeking to become Shiloh Jolie.
The Jolie-Pitt family has been in the spotlight due to their high-profile divorce, which began in September 2016. Despite the separation, details of their split remain unresolved, and a settlement agreement is yet to be reached.
Shiloh’s legal move marks a significant step, as she is the first of the siblings to formally petition for a name change. Her 15-year-old sister Vivienne previously dropped their father’s last name in a Playbill program for a Broadway production, and eldest daughter Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College.
The divorce battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has been contentious. In 2016, Jolie filed for divorce after an incident in which she alleged that Pitt grabbed her by the head and mistreated their children during a flight. Pitt denies these allegations.
The custody battle resulted in joint custody being awarded to Pitt in 2021. Additionally, both actors have filed lawsuits against each other, including disputes over property and shared business ventures, such as the French winery Château Miraval, which they co-own.
Shiloh’s decision to change her name comes amidst ongoing legal complexities between her parents. The Jolie-Pitt saga continues to captivate public interest, and Shiloh’s formal request adds another layer to their family drama.
