Eid al-Fitr Expected to Happen Today or Tomorrow for Many Muslims Worldwide

Ramadan 2024, a time of abstaining from food and intense reflection, is almost over. Muslims everywhere get ready to cheer for Eid al-Fitr. This happy day signals Ramadan’s end and is one of Islam’s two big feasts.

Known as ‘break-fast feast,’ Eid al-Fitr is when Muslims join, thank God,and take pleasure in the company of others, relatives, and savoury meals. The day is set on Shawwal’s start, right after Ramadan, and it goes on for three days in lots of places.

The fun starts with a group Eid prayer. Muslims meet at big prayer houses or in the open air to say their thanks to God. Then family and close friends unite for an extravagant feast with a plethora of fancy foods and desserts. They distribute gifts and money and adorn themselves in new attire, boosting the enjoyment.

Before Eid, Muslims buy new outfits and fix up their homes. It is incumbent upon the head of each household to give to charity, called Fitra or Zakat Al Fitr, to aid those with less so they can join the fun. Through this act of giving, we are reminded to be mindful of the less fortunate, even in our moments of happiness.

Eid al-Fitr has its own style in different lands, showing the rich mix in the Muslim world. In places like Pakistan and Qatar, the day is full with busy bazaars, shared joy, and special acts like Garangao and Ghabga.

As we get set for Eid al-Fitr 2024, Muslims will keep thinking about what they learned in Ramadan. They observe the end of days with abstinence from food, extensive prayers, and reflective meditation. The feast shows how strong faith and getting together can be, showing us that even when hard times hit, we can find ways to be thankful and join with others.
