The Regime, a new HBO miniseries starring Kate Winslet as the leader of a fictional European dictatorship, premiered on Sunday, March 3. The six-episode series is a political satire that follows a year in the life of Chancellor Elena Vernham, who faces domestic unrest and international pressure as her regime begins to crumble.
The Regime is created, written, and produced by Will Tracy, one of the writers of the now-concluded HBO series, Succession. It is directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, A Very English Scandal) and Jessica Hobbs (The Crown, Broadchurch).
Other cast members we will be seeing in the series include; Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, and Hugh Grant.
The miniseries will be airing on HBO on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will also be available to stream on HBO Max, the streaming service that offers access to HBO’s library of shows and movies, as well as original content and exclusive titles.
Generally, ‘The Regime’ is a dark comedy that explores the absurdity and corruption of power, as well as the human drama and emotions behind the palace walls.
