Darius Rucker Arrested on Drug Charges: Ex-Girlfriend Reacts

The country singer and leader of Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker, was just recently arrested in Tennessee.

He was booked on misdemeanor drug possession charges, and his ex-girlfriend, Kate Quigley, seemingly reacted with two less-than-empathic tweets.

According to TMZ, Rucker, 57, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 1st by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. He faced two charges of possessing a controlled substance and one charge of violating the vehicle registration law. However, the type of drug that was in his possession was not disclosed.

He was released the same day after posting a $10,500 bond. His attorney said in a statement that the singer

“is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.”

It is not clear what led to Rucker’s arrest, but TMZ reported that police say the singer allegedly had expired tags on his car.

Hours after the news broke, Rucker’s ex-girlfriend, comedian Kate Quigley, seemingly reacted with two short tweets. Quigley, who dated the country singer for a few months in 2021, wrote on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, “Yes. I’ve heard. All I can say is Karma.”

She followed up with another now deleted tweet, saying,

“Mood when u hear your d-bag ex got arrested. 😋❤️. #Karma,””

Quigley and Rucker reportedly split in October 2021, after she survived a near-fatal overdose that killed three of her friends. Her ex was seen with another woman shortly after the incident, sparking rumors of a breakup.

As of the time of writing, Darius Rucker has not publicly commented on his arrest or his ex-girlfriend’s tweets.

The singer is scheduled to perform in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry House on the 6th of February. He will also reunite with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates for their 2024 “Summer Camp With Trucks Tour.”
