Pep Guardiola Rages As Wasteful Manchester City Draw Against Crystal Palace

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was furious about how his team ended their match against lower-ranked Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

City were great for around 70 minutes, before letting Crystal Palace slip two goals to claim a crucial point.

‘I would like to know,’ Guardiola said. ‘I feel that the last three games we played here where we dropped points were excellent.’

Jack Grealish’s side-footed effort opened the scoring in 24 minutes for the Citizens who struggled to break through Palace’s defense.

Rico Lewis made it two and Manchester City relaxed in their build-up play.

"When you give [away] this penalty, you deserve it,” a frustrated Guardiola said. You see the chances we created, the chances we concede, it’s quite similar, except the Chelsea game, all this season. But we are not able to close the game.

"There was a chance [for Palace] in the first half…but until the [Mateta] goal, they didn’t do anything. So the team was really, really good. But in the end, when you give Crystal Palace this penalty, you don’t deserve it. It’s like the penalty for Chelsea [that Cole Palmer scored].

"The games against Spurs and Liverpool, today, were excellent, but we were not able to win the game. What has happened is because we are not consistent enough to close the games and for many reasons.”

The result leaves City still in fourth in the Premier League table, and with only one win in their last six games.
