Mohammed Salah's Brace Sends Liverpool To 2nd

Egyptian striker, Mohammed Salah scored two goals on Sunday in Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Brentford. The Reds now maintain a 100% record at Anfield.

Salah — who now has 200 goals in English football with Liverpool and Chelsea — became the first player yet to score in each of Liverpool’s first six home league games of a season.

Brentford, whose three-match winning run ended, are 10th on 16 points.

Liverpool is now second in the Premier League table ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham.

Salah opened the scoresheet in the 39th minute after Trent Alexander-Arnold sent a pass to Darwin Nunez who passed it to the Egyptian to send it home.

Mohammed got his second of the game in the 62nd minute after Kostas Tsimikas slid the ball in for Salah to lay it in.

Diogo Jota scored in the 74th when he cut inside and bent the ball inside the far corner past keeper Mark Flekken.

“(Salah) is always there, is a goal threat, creates chances and is really important for us like everyone knows. Congratulations to him on his 200th goal,” Diogo Jota, Liverpool’s other scorer on the day, said.

“It’s still early doors,” he added on the title race. “We need to keep winning to be able to be in that title fight towards the end. It is a long road.”

Darwin Nunez also had two first-half efforts disallowed for offside.

“Outstanding. Outstanding,” Klopp said of Nunez’s performance. “Everyone can see. Look at him how he kept the ball for us, who would have thought that last year, that he could do that for us? “Work-rate was insane.”

Brentford Manager Thomas Frank was not happy about the result. He thought there should have been a red card.

“Pictures of clear studs on Norgaard’s leg with blood and everything,” Frank said.
