Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham, co-stars of “Ted Lasso,” got back together over the weekend for a worthy cause.
When Sudeikis and Waddingham appeared at the Thundergong! 2023 charity event in Kansas City, they gave a powerful rendition of the song “Shallow,” which was first featured in the smash 2018 film “A Star is Born” by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.
Will Forte, a former castmate of Sudeikis on “SNL,” first joined him on stage in a YouTube video of the performance.
“There is nobody I would rather sing this song with,” Sudeikis told Forte, who stood beside the “We’re the Millers” star as he sang Cooper’s verse.
Waddingham entered the stage and took over, killing the performance and hitting every note as Forte started to sing Lady Gaga’s verse.
Waddingham is a renowned singer and theater actor in addition to her most well-known role as Rebecca Welton in “Ted Lasso.” The Emmy winner even performed musically on a “Ted Lasso” Season 2 holiday episode. Later this month, Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas, an AppleTV+ musical special, will be hosted by her.
For three seasons, Waddingham and Sudeikis were opposite each other in the heartwarming television series “Ted Lasso,” which followed an American football coach who tried to run a London-based UK football team. In May, the series finale of the show was streamed.
Every year, in his native Kansas City, Sudeikis throws a charity function called Thundergong! to raise money for the Steps of Faith Foundation, which helps amputees get prosthetic care.
