It is confirmed that Matty Healy and his band, The 1975, would not perform on Taylor Swift’s much awaited “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” re-record, despite numerous rumors and suspicions to the contrary.

A spokeswoman for the singer cleared up any lingering questions by clarifying that Healy and his band won’t be participating in this musical project in a recent statement to Billboard.

For some time now, rumors have been circulating regarding Matty Healy’s probable involvement in the re-recording of Taylor Swift’s song “1989.” When UK broadsheet stories suggested Patrick Healy, the divisive leader of the British band The 1975, would appear on Swift’s revamped 2014 album, the rumors reached a fever pitch.

But Taylor Swift’s representative has now formally declared: “Neither Matty Healy nor [The] 1975 are on this album.” With this declaration, all speculation and speculations about a future collaboration are put to rest.

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy were purportedly romantically linked earlier this year, adding fuel to the flames, though neither party formally confirmed the relationship. After Healy attended three of Swift’s Nashville Eras Tour concerts earlier in the month, they were seen leaving New York’s Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village in May. Fans are interested about the nature of the relationship between The 1975 and Matty Healy because neither band’s spokesperson has replied to calls for comment as of yet.

Taylor Swift recently surprised her audience by announcing the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” The album, whose release is due for October 27, will include well-known pop songs like “Bad Blood,” “Shake It Off,” and “Blank Space.” ‘1989’ was the record that, in Swift’s words, “changed my life in countless ways.”

The addition of five previously omitted tunes from “The Vault” makes this re-release very meaningful for Swift and her admirers. I can’t believe they were ever left behind, Swift exclaimed in her delight. However, not for long.

Following her announcement of the project in 2019, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is Swift’s fourth attempt at re-recording songs from her back catalog. ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version),’ ‘Red (Taylor’s Version),’ and ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ all spent two weeks at the top of the charts in 2021, one week in 2021, and two weeks earlier this year, respectively.

Two songs from the re-recorded “1989” have already been made public as a present for fans. While “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” appeared in the teaser for the Amazon Prime series “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” gained popularity on TikTok in November 2021.
