On Thursday, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions shocked the Kansas City Chiefs and reigning Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes by defeating them in a game.

On Sunday, there will be a number of high-caliber games. Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the draft, will play in his NFL debut in the Carolina Panthers’ season opener against the Atlanta Falcons in an NFC South Division duel. Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons, Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts, the second-overall pick and new Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud are a few other notable rookies who will be in uniform for the first time on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers face off in a long-standing rivalry on the afternoon schedule. The day’s final game pits the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Giants.

Falcons succeed

Bijan Robinson, a rookie running back, avoided a tackle in the end zone and carried in the pass for an 11-yard Falcons touchdown three plays after Jessie Bates intercepted Young.
