Luton has joined the Premier League table fo the first time since its advent in 1992.
The Premier League for the new season would kick off on the 11th of August 2023 and Luton, as well as Sheffield Wednesday, and Burnley would be joining them for the new season.
Luton secured their place in the top league after they beat Coventry City 6-5 on penalties from a 1-1 draw.
They were relegated to what is now League One in 1996, where they remained until 2001 before dropping into League Two.
2009 was the lowest time for Luton, as they suffered three straight relegations to end up in the National League.
They stayed there for five years before moving to League One in 2014. Then they moved up to the championship and they have been there ever since.
Luton’s player, Elijah Adebayo, who is also going to be playing in the Premier League for the first time said:
“This group is special. Commiserations to Coventry, it was a hell of a battle and they pushed us all the way. We’ve said it since the gaffer has come in, he said we were going to do it but we had to believe it.”
“If you look at Luton, every year they seem to improve their position in the league. I just wanted to come here and do my best and aim for days like this. The fans who have been here since Luton were relegated to the conference, this is for them.”
Luton enjoyed a beautiful campaign in the championship last season, reaching the Championship play-offs semi-finals
