Derrick Henry to Bid Farewell to Tennessee Titans as They Usher in Tony Pollard for a 3-Year Contract

The Tennessee Titans are set to begin a new chapter in their storied franchise history as they welcome Tony Pollard, the lead running back, into their ranks. He is expected to fill the void left by the departure of Derrick Henry, the Titans’ long-time rushing leader.

According to The Associated Press, Pollard and the Titans have agreed to a $24 million, three-year contract. The Memphis alum had impressed the league with back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and the latter is banking on his ability to continue this high level of play.

Additionally, in his career, Poland has accumulated a total of 3,621 rushing yards, average of 4.8 yards per rush that is further underscored by his 176 receptions for 1,319 yards and 29 total touchdowns.

This deal comes as Derrick Henry is poised to enter free agency. At 30 years old, the athlete, who is nicknamed King Henry, is eager to prove that age is merely a number and that he still possesses the prowess that made him a four-time Pro Bowl running back.

His tenure with the Titans has been nothing short of historic; he led the NFL in carries and ranked second in rushing yards in 2023.

Derrick Henry is also one of only eight players to run for at least 2,000 yards in a season and is tied for 13th in NFL history with 90 rushing touchdowns.
