Ozzy Osbourne has publicly criticized Kanye West for using a sample of his music without his consent, calling him an antisemite and distancing himself from the rapper.
The metal icon took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to express his outrage over the alleged unauthorized use of a portion of his 1983 live version of the Black Sabbath song War Pigs on West’s new album Vultures.
Osbourne wrote in capital letters saying that he,
“REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY…….I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”
His wife, Sharon Osbourne, who is Jewish, may have given a hint to one of the reasons why they denied West’s request to use the sample. She once told the Jewish Chronicle: “Judaism is the only religion I have, and the only one with which I feel comfortable.”
Kanye West, who changed his name to Ye in 2022, has been a controversial figure for his antisemitic statements and actions, especially since he threatened to go “death con 3” on Jewish people in a tweet he made in 2022.
He even added “How I’m antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch” in his song called Vultures. He also caused a stir in the audience at his listening party on Thursday when he rapped a line from an unreleased song, “And I’m still crazy, bipolar, antisemite / And I’m still the king.”
Despite hosting the listening party with Ty Dolla $ign at the United Center on Thursday night, West’s new album Vultures, which was slated for a Feb. 9th release, is still unavailable.
As of now, all eyes are on the rapper to see if he will remove the War Pigs sample from the album, or if he will be facing legal action from Osbourne.
