Brad Pitt is in negotiations to star in Quentin Tarantino’s 10th and final film ‘The Movie Critic’, according to multiple sources.
The film will be a 1970s-set drama about a film critic who wrote for a porn magazine and was notorious for his rude and witty reviews. The film is inspired by a real-life critic who Tarantino admired and described as “a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle might be if he were a film critic”.
Pitt and Tarantino have previously worked together on two acclaimed films:
‘Inglourious Basterds’ (2009), where Pitt played a Nazi-hunting lieutenant, and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ (2019), where Pitt played a stuntman and won an Oscar for best-supporting actor.
The role that Pitt will play in ‘The Movie Critic’ is not yet revealed, but it is speculated that he will either play the title character or a major supporting role.
Tarantino has long stated that he will retire from directing after his 10th film, as he believes that directors do not get better after that point. He has also said that he wants to focus on other creative endeavors, such as writing books and directing TV shows.
As of now, Quentin Tarantino’s ‘The Movie Critic’ does not have a release date but it is expected to start production later this year.
