Powerball Drawing on April 6, 2024: What You Need to Know 

The much-expected Powerball drawing for Saturday, April 6, 2024, finally occurred after a significant setback. If you got a ticket, it’s time to check your numbers! 

When Was the Drawing Held? 

Originally fixed to start by 10:59 p.m. on Saturday. However, the drawing was postponed and finally started at 2:29 a.m. on Sunday at the Florida Lottery draw studio. 

How Much Was the Jackpot? 

The Powerball jackpot for this drawing was an estimated $1.3 billion, with a cash option of $608.9 million. This is the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot ever and considered the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history.

 The winning Powerball numbers for April 6, 2024, are: 

– White Balls: 22, 27, 44, 52, 69 

– Powerball: 9 

– Powerplay: 3x 

Why Was There a Delay? 

The delay was due to one lottery state needing more time to complete required pre-draw procedures. These procedures are set in place to ensure the security and integrity of the Powerball game. Every ticket sold nationwide is inspected and verified against two computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn. 

When Is the Next Powerball Drawing? 

 Powerball drawings are fixed to hold three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Monday drawings were added to the list of exisitng days in 2021. 

Buying Powerball Tickets 

The finishing date for purchasing Powerball tickets differs by state. In New Jersey, the deadline is set at 9:59 p.m. on the day of the drawing, while in New York, it’s fixed for 10 p.m. You can find a complete list of ticket deadline times by state. 

You can buy tickets in-person at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores. Some airport terminals also sell lottery tickets. Additionally, in certain states, you can order tickets online through Jackpocket, the official digital lottery courier of the USA TODAY Network. 

How to Play Powerball 

Powerball ticket costs $2. An additional sum of $1 can Power Play option, which can multiply your non-jackpot winnings up to five times (excluding the jackpot and Match 5). You can select your numbers or let the lottery machine generate a quick pick ticket for you. 

Prizes range from $4 for matching just the Powerball to $1 million for matching all five white balls (except in California) to the jackpot for matching all six numbers. 

Where Is Powerball Available? 

Powerball is available and can be played in 45 states, including Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

How to Watch the Powerball Drawing 

 The Powerball drawing would go live on the lottery website at 10:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. You can also view it on local television stations in some markets. 

What Are the Odds of Winning? P 

It can be exciting playing Powerball, however, the odds of winning the jackpot are 292,201,338-to-1. The chances of matching all five white balls are 11,688,053-to-1. 

Lump Sum or Annuity? 

If one wins the jackpot, one has two payout options: annuity or cash. The annuity option pays out the jackpot over a period, with an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increases by 5% each year. While cash option is a block sum payment, though it’s highly lower than the advertised jackpot. 

Can one win anonymously? 

Of course, yes! But in places like New Jersey, one can claim your prize anonymously. However, in other states, a winner’s name and hometown is made available to the public. It is best recommended to check with your state lottery for more information.
