Viewers React to the First Teaser Trailer of Wicked Movie Musical

The long-awaited movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked has finally released its first teaser trailer during the Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday.

The trailer, which is only one minute long, gives a glimpse of the magical world of Oz, the iconic song “Defying Gravity”, and the stars of the film: Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.

Wicked, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, tells the untold story of the friendship and rivalry between the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North, before and after the events of The Wizard of Oz.

The musical is created by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz. It debuted on Broadway in 2003 and has become one of the most successful and beloved shows of all time.

The movie, directed by Jon M. Chu, is set to be released in two parts, with the first one coming out in November this year and the second one in 2025. The film also features a star-studded cast, including Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Ethan Slater.

The teaser trailer has generated a lot of excitement and buzz among fans of the musical, who have been eagerly waiting for the film for years. Many praised the visuals, the music, and the performances of Erivo and Grande, who are both acclaimed singers and actors.

Some also noted the changes made to the original song, such as Erivo’s riff at the end of “Defying Gravity”.

However, not everyone was impressed by the trailer, as some expressed their dissatisfaction with the CGI, the costumes, the casting, and the overall tone of the film. Some also questioned the decision to split the movie into two parts, arguing that it was unnecessary and motivated by profit.

Wicked is expected to be one of the biggest movie musicals of the year, and fans are hoping that it will live up to the hype and do justice to the original source material.
