Suspects in custody after leading police on a chase and crashing in Saddle River.
SADDLE RIVER, New Jersey (WABC) — Two teenagers were apprehended following a crash involving a stolen car that overturned on northbound Route 17 in Saddle River, New Jersey.
The incident occurred at East Allendale Road just before 4:30 a.m. on Friday.
According to the police, a group of teenagers stole a Porsche and a Range Rover from a garage in Wycoff.
The teens in the Range Rover led the police on a chase before colliding with a utility pole and flipping the vehicle on Route 17.
Authorities report that two 15-year-olds attempted to flee but were apprehended. They now face multiple charges, including burglary and theft.
The teenagers who stole the Porsche managed to escape.
Route 17 was shut down in both directions for cleanup.
Further north in Ramsey, about five miles away in an unrelated incident, a pedestrian was fatally struck on southbound Route 17 at Airmount Avenue.
The vehicle involved remained at the scene.
The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
The southbound lanes of Route 17 were closed for the crash investigation in Ramsey.
