Irish Grinstead a member of the popular RnB 702 girl group has died at the age of 43, after a long battle with an undisclosed sickness.
Lemisha Grinstead, Irish’s sister, who is also a member of the 702 girl group took to her social media to confirm the news.
“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening. She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace.
“That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life!
“We, the family ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family,” she posted to Instagram.
Irish’s twin sister, Irish Grinstead, died in 2008 at the age of 27 due to kidney failure.
702, named after the area code of Las Vegas, was known for songs like “Where My Girls At?,” “I Still Love You,” and “You Don’t Know.”
702 released their debut single, “Steelo,” in 1996. Their first album, “No Doubt,” sold 500,000 copies in the U.S. They went on to release their second, self-titled, studio album in 1999, which was followed by “Star” in 2003.
The group had previously announced in December 2022, that Irish would be stepping away from the group due to a medical issue.
