Emma Stone secures second Best Actress Oscar for ‘Poor Things’

Emma Stone won the Best Actress award at the Oscars for her role in the movie “Poor Things.” This is the second time she’s won this award. She beat out Lily Gladstone from the movie “Killers of the Flower Moon.” People weren’t sure who would win because the competition was tough. If Gladstone had won, she would have been the first Native American to get this award.

When last year’s winner, Michelle Yeoh, announced Stone’s name, Stone was surprised. She hugged and kissed her husband, Dave McCary, and then hugged her co-star Mark Ruffalo and director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Stone said backstage that she felt like she blacked out from shock. She was still spinning from the surprise. Stone hugged each of the five previous Best Actress winners who introduced the nominees.

In the movie “Poor Things,” Stone plays a character named Bella Baxter. Bella is like a child in Victorian London. She gets a new brain and starts to discover herself. The movie is full of funny moments and has a unique visual style.

Stone said during her speech that winning wasn’t just about her. It was about the whole team who worked on the movie. She thanked everyone who was part of the cast and crew. She especially thanked Yorgos Lanthimos for giving her the role of Bella Baxter, which she called the gift of a lifetime.
