Amy Schumer Opens Up About Her Health, Her Show, and Her Face

Amy Schumer has been busy promoting the second season of her Hulu show, Life & Beth, which she writes, directs and stars in.

The show, which premiered on February 16th, follows the life of Beth, a successful but unhappy woman who moves back to her childhood home after the death of her mother. Life & Beth is partly inspired by Schumer’s own experiences and features a cast of familiar faces, such as Michael Rapaport, Michael Cera, and Violet Young.

Now after a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, where she talked about her show and how it reflects her own journey of self-discovery and healing, a lot of people questioned why her face was puffier than normal.

It was so wild that Amy Schumer had to address the comments and speculation about her appearance on Instagram.

While promoting her show, she wrote a lengthy message saying:

“At midnight tonight! Binge both full seasons of @lifeandbethhulu and thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face! I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years. And you’re right it is puffier than normal right now.”

She went further to write,

“I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now but I’m okay. Historically women’s bodies have barely been studied medically compared to men. The book “all in her head” does a good job explaining this. I also believe a woman doesn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation. But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self love and acceptance of the skin you’re in.”

Amy Schumer has once revealed that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease back in 2020 and also spoke about her surgery in 2021 to remove her uterus and appendix due to endometriosis, which caused her a lot of pain.
