Man United Amrabat Receives 2 Red Cards As Morocco Exits AFCON

Fiorentina defender Sofyan Amrabat who is in Manchester United on loan received two red cards after committing a foul against South Africa’s Mokoena in the AFCON round of 16.

The midfielder received a second yellow for tripping Teboho Mokoena as the Atlas Lions desperately looked for an equalizer when they were a goal down.

It turned out that Amrabat had deliberately fouled Mokoena to deny him from scoring.

The referee had given a second yellow before he was asked by the VAR to check the replay.

Amrabat was already making his way down the tunnel when the referee called him back to change the second yellow and give him a straight red card for ultimately denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Their hopes of qualification were dashed when Mokoena fired home the resultant free-kick to shockingly send the highest-ranked team in Africa home.

The Atlas Lions finished in fourth place in the just concluded World Cup where they became the first African side to reach a semi-final.

Amrabat would return to Manchester United to continue to fight for a spot in Erik Ten Hag’s squad.
