Britney Spears Apologizes for Memoir, Praises Justin Timberlake’s New Song

Britney Spears has made her Instagram account private following an apology for some of the content in her memoir, “The Woman in Me”, which she believes offended some people, including her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

The memoir, which was released in October 2023, chronicled Spears’ rise to fame, her struggles with mental health, and her fight for freedom from her conservatorship. It also revealed some shocking details about her past relationship with Timberlake, who she dated from 1999 to 2002.

Spears wrote that Timberlake had pressured her to have an abortion when she was pregnant with his child, and that he had cheated on her with several women, including Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson.

She also claimed that he had used their breakup to boost his solo career, and that he had mocked her in his songs and videos, such as “Cry Me a River” and “What Goes Around…Comes Around”.

The memoir blew up online and Justin Timberlake received a lot of hate from what she wrote. He publicly apologized to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for the harm he had caused them in the past before deleting all his posts from his Instagram account.

On Friday, Spears posted a lengthy message on her Instagram account, in which she apologized for hurting anyone with her memoir, and said that she was only trying to tell her truth. She also said that she still had love and respect for Timberlake, and that she enjoyed his new song, “Selfish“, which he released on Thursday.

“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry…” Spears wrote. “I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish’ 🌹 It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ???

Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow 🤩 too.”

Spears then announced that she was making her Instagram account private, and that she needed some time away from social media to focus on herself and her family. She thanked her fans for their support, and said that she would be back soon.

“I have decided to make my Instagram account private for now. I need some time to myself, to focus on my well-being, and to spend time with my loved ones. I appreciate all the love and support you have given me, and I hope you understand. I will be back soon, I promise. I love you all.”

Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me”, has been a bestseller, selling over 1.1 million copies in the U.S. in its first week.
