Lil Wayne, a professional rapper, singer, and songwriter from the United States, will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards 2023, marking his first performance in ten years.

The five-time Grammy award winner and multi-platinum global music legend will perform his most recent song, Kat Food, live for the very first time. Kat Food was released on Friday, September 1.

Lil Wayne used to attend the VMAs frequently. In 2008, he appeared in a commercial alongside Leona Lewis and T-Pain and won the coveted Moon Person with Lollipop in the “Best Hip-Hop” category.

He sang How to Love and John to cap off the show in 2011.

He appeared on stage with 2 Chainz in 2012, and HYFR, a duet with Drake, won the “Best Hip-Hop” category. The 14-time nominee was nominated in the same category for the Swizz Beatz and DMX collaboration Kant Nobody.

Lil Wayne has solidified his legacy as one of the best-selling artists in history and one of the most important figures in Hip-Hop with a discography that includes more than 120 million records sold worldwide, including 26 million albums, five Grammy awards, and a No. 7 ranking on Billboard’s and VIBE’s 2023 list of the 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time.

Wayne’s career began in 1995 when he was signed by rapper Birdman, joining Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label. He is regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of the twenty-first century and frequently referred to as the greatest rapper of his generation as well as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

From that point until his separation from Cash Money Records in June 2018, he served as the label’s marquee performer. His musical taste and use of auto-tune inspired the creation of trap as well as the contemporary sound of hip-hop music and its subgenres.

Missy Elliott, a rapper, has been named by Lil Wayne as his greatest musical inspiration. He added that American hip-hop trio Goodie Mob has also had a significant influence on him. He admitted to listening to Goodie Mob since he was in the seventh grade in an interview with Genius.

His generational breakthrough tune Lollipop starring Static Major earned him this year his first Diamond certification from the RIAA as recognition for his dedication.
